Who are we?

Acafella are a mens’ acapella quartet and we sing 4-part close harmony in the Barbershop style.

As far as we know we are the only barbershop quartet in Suffolk

How did we get together ?

We first got together in November 2006 for a one off for the St Matthew’s Church Ipswich Carol service.
Tony and I both sing in St Matthews worship band and had also previously been members of Suffolk Harmony – Suffolk’s’ only barbershop chorus – where we had met Andy.
Suffolk Harmony had folded due to a drop in numbers, so Tony, Andy I were looking for an opportunity to sing barbershop again.
Tony and I already knew Jonathan who also worships at St Matthew’s church so he joined us to sing bass.
We soon after decided to form a quartet and have since performed as Acafella a number of times.

Our Name

We wanted a name that described us, and came up with Acafella after bouncing around some ideas between ourselves. From a capella (unaccompanied singing ) and fella’s.
